UK needs to become an insulation nation
That is according to the National Insulation Association (NIA), which is encouraging Britons to make it their new year's resolution.
According to the organisation, over 13 million households in the UK do not have proper insulation and but if they did, they would see a combined saving of £650 million.
"Although some people have got loft insulation, they should look to top that up to get the maximum benefits from it," said Neil Marshall, NIA chief executive.
"The Energy Saving Trust [say that] cavity wall insulation, on average, would save around £90 per year. With loft insulation you would hope for £100 per year.
"The normal price would be about £500, but if you can get that subsidised for half price, then the payback on that is less than three years. And obviously, insulation is there for life, so you make those savings year on year," he continued.
