Earthquake victims may have to call on a loan
Lloyds TSB estimates that the tremors affected over 2,000 homeowners and has given homeowners a number if tips on how to deal with making claims.
This includes checking what damage is catered for on an insurance package, telephoning the insurer as soon as possible to register a claim, as well as finding out whether a policy provides for temporary accommodation, if circumstances dictate it.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB insurance, said that the group was calling customers in the area to help them arrange a claim if it was needed.
"However, we'd urge anyone who has been affected to follow our advice and give us a call as soon as possible," he added.
For those people who do not possess home insurance, shopping around to find a competitive home loan could be a savvy solution.
